A while back I operated camera on a TV show called Smells Like Friday Night for Channel 4. It was a late night mash-up of live performances, interviews, sketches and general chaos, vaguely reminiscent of The Word, but more about the music. Great fun to make, that’s for sure, and an absolutely brilliantly lit set that’s actually earned the Duncan Elsam, the Lighting Director, a nomination by the Knights Of Illumination!
This is a close-up of one of the lamps on the set – a big bare bulb backed by one of those fragmented mirrors. I focussed on the reflections for this shot because they’re often the bit you really want to see in this sort of thing, not the foreground. I do have one of the foreground focussed but I prefer this one because you can find the face… 😉
Also, this is another X100S shot – although I’ve done my usual basic tweak for exposure and stuff, it’s otherwise the same colours and quality that the camera produces, so you can see just how tremendous it really is.
